The third time’s the charm for the series, it seems. That was also after an attempt made in 2013 by producer Scott Stuber to get an adaptation going that also ended up fizzling out. Obviously, that deal with Universal never came to fruition. Six years ago, The Coalition had reached a deal with Universal to produce a film adaptation of the series. The road to get Gears of War in film form has been a long one. Netflix made the announcement via Twitter on the 16th anniversary of the Gears of War franchise, which started off on the Xbox 360 way back in 2006.
